Data and privacyEN

Your data remains under your control

ABAK was designed around three simple principles:

  • Your data remains under your control.
  • Recorded data remains stored locally on your devices and is not automatically transmitted to ABAK Metrics’ servers.
  • No user account is required to use the ABAK applications.

The retention period for local data can be adjusted in the application settings.

This section covers:

  • how local storage works;
  • data retention;
  • the storage space used;
  • the privacy principles applied in ABAK.

Local data storage

ABAK and ABAK Companion exclusively use a local SQLite database to record information created by the user.

Test results, follow-up folders and associated data are stored locally on the device being used. When ABAK Companion is used, data can be synchronised between the two applications to make it easier to consult and archive.

Data is transferred locally, via the practice’s Wi-Fi network or a direct USB connection, depending on the configuration used. No cloud infrastructure or remote server is required for the applications to operate.

ABAK and ABAK Companion are designed to work primarily offline. No Internet connection is required to carry out assessments, record results or consult locally stored data.
ABAK does not automatically transmit patient data over the Internet or to a third-party server.

Your data stays with you!

Data retention

Data recorded in ABAK is stored locally on your phone or tablet. To limit the size of the local database, folders can be deleted automatically after a period defined in the application settings (90 days by default).

Visual indicators make it easy to identify folders approaching their expiry date, giving you time to consult, export or synchronise them with ABAK Companion.

For users wishing to retain their data over a longer period, ABAK Companion allows folders to be archived on a computer without using a cloud service.

Data size

Information recorded in ABAK generally uses very little storage space. As an indication, several hundred follow-up folders often take up less space than a single photo taken with a recent smartphone.
For most users, the space required to store assessments is negligible compared with the capacity available on current devices.

Principes de confidentialité appliqués dans ABAK

ABAK is designed to work primarily offline and without requiring a user account.

Data recorded during assessments remains stored locally on your devices and is not automatically transmitted to a remote server.
Exports and synchronisations are performed only at the healthcare professional’s initiative.

ABAK Companion follows the same local-storage principles and does not require a cloud service.
